What are the dimensions of the Canvas Lamp?

The Canvas Lamp is made for desktop creators, so it's been fine-tuned to fit right at home on your desk. The weighted bases are 8" in diameter, and the main arms are each about 13" in length. The ring light is about 6" in diameter.

What is the maximum reach of the Canvas Lamp?

While the answer to the question is "approximately 24 inches," the more important question you're probably asking is really, "How large of a work area can the Canvas Lamp capture?" Since all phones and cases are different sizes and weights, it's impossible to give an exact answer to the "reach" question - but the "work area" question is a bit easier.

We guarantee that the Canvas Lamp can capture at minimum a 24"x24" area in your workspace - regardless of the size of your phone. If you need additional reach for extra large projects, we recommend switching from your weighted base to the desk clamp, which is included with every Canvas Lamp.

Can I add more weight to my weighted base?

Absolutely! All weighted bases are between 5lb and 8lb - but we understand for some creators who need extreme reach, a heavier base would provide additional stability! In this case, we recommend opting for the Classic Wooden Base and adding an additonal steel plate to the base.

Alternatively, you can use the desk clamp that is included with every Canvas Lamp instead of your base.

If I order a lamp with a weighted base, does it come with a desk clamp as well?

Yes! All Canvas Lamps come with a desk clamp. Even if you purchase the weighted base, you will have the option to remove your lamp from the base and mount it to the edge of your desk using the desk clamp.

Does this lamp buzz, hum, ring, or otherwise make an annoying noise?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Every Canvas Lamp shipped today runs completely, beautifully silent - we've learned that lesson the hard way....story time...

🤦‍♂️ There was a dark phase a few years ago when our product engineers improved our electronic system, but in the process introduced a (very annoying) "buzz" to the lamp's electronics. However, the pitch of the noise was so high that our engineers (who were all 40+ years old) couldn't hear it. But boy did we hear about it as soon as we started shipping those lamps! They were fully functional and safe - but they just made a sad sound. For a few months, we aggressively made repairs to all affected lamps, and again re-worked our electronics system...this time, ensuring there was no phantom buzz. Since 2023, there have been zero reports of ringing, buzzing, or otherwise annoying sounds!

As a final note - if you, or anyone you know, owns a "buzzing lamp from 2022," we are still offering a totally free, 100% covered repair or replacement for your lamp. Just let us know and we'll repair or replace it at no cost to you!

Does the Canvas Lamp tip over?

As awesome as the Canvas Lamp is, we haven't yet defied the laws of physics :). So technically, yes, it is possible to tip the lamp over, when you install a large phone and stretch it to extreme positions. That said - you can dramatically increase your maximum reach by using the desk clamp with the lamp, or by adding a second steel plate to your weighted wooden base.

That said, the vast majority of creatives find the base to be the perfect balance between form and function, and more than heavy enough for most uses.

We designed the Canvas Lamp to be the perfect balance between "industrial strength utility" and "refined creative elegance." So while we could've made the base larger, heavier, disproportionate and more expensive, we opted to make the ideal lamp for most creators - while still including options for more versatility in extreme use cases.

How do I replace the light bulbs?

The Canvas Lamp comes with built-in, long-life LED light fixtures that are incredibly high performance - but are not replaceable. However, when we say "long-life," we're talking 25,000+ hours of continuous use. Practically they should never need to be replaced.

However, we understand that manufacturing issues can happen, and that's why all Canvas Lamps are covered by a default 1 year warranty, which is extendable up to 3 years. If an issue with your lamp emerges while under warranty, we'll replace it, no questions asked. If your light goes out after the warranty period has ended, we do offer a repair service for a small fee. With this add-on service, we commit to repair or replace any Canvas Lamp - even outside warranty - for a fee that is much lower (and less annoying) than replacing bulbs every couple months.

It's TOO EXPENSIVE! Can't I buy this same thing somewhere else for cheaper?

Short answer: No. No you can't.

Long answer is that CANVAS never set out to be the cheapest - we set out to be the best. And while there are admittedly many ways to hold your phone above your desk, CANVAS stands out definitively as the BEST. We created CANVAS because there were zero ways to hold your phone above your desk without driving yourself crazy.

What are the lighting specs?

The Canvas Lamp is dimmable, with a maximum lighting output of 1500 lumens (this is about the same light output as a traditional 100W incandescent bulb). It has 3 color temperature settings (~6000K - cool; ~4400K - neutral; ~3200K - warm), with a CRI in the upper 80s to 90s, depending on the settings.
